Wright hit on nine of 18 shots and added eight free throws in netting her 26 points. Montiya Harrison (Petersburg, VA) followed with an all-around game. She scored 15 points, grabbed seven rebounds, dished out seven assists and registered five steals.
Catawba was led by Dana Hicks (York, SC/Gaston Day) with her third consecutive double-double. The junior posted a game-high 28 points and grabbed 15 rebound to go along with five steals. Hicks was a perfect 12-for-12 at the line which was one shy of the school record of 13 makes without a miss. Kisha Long (Dallas, NC/Gaston Day) added 17 points, going 9-of-10 at the stripe, while Elizabeth Merritt (Lexington, NC/E. Davidson HS) contributed 10 points and seven rebounds.
Livingstone took advantage of poor Catawba shooting in the first half. The Lady Indians made just six of 32 (19%) shots in the opening stanza in falling behind 38-18. Harrison scored six points in a 14-2 run to push the Livingstone lead to 26-14 with six minute remaining in the half. A steal and bucket by Harrison pushed the lead to 34-16.
Catawba tried for a valiant comeback in the final half. Trailing by 19 with 14:23 remaining, the Lady Indians used a 17-6 run to pull within single digits after a layup by Hicks with 8:15 left. Livingstone went back up by 12 with two minutes to play, but a three-pointer by Long with a minute remaining cut the lead to 73-67.
Long hit a pair of free throws with 29 seconds to go to pull Catawba within 77-72, but the Lady Blue Bears did enough at the line to hold on. Livingstone hit on eight of 12 from the stripe in the final 1:09 of the contest.
Catawba improved to 48% in the second half in scoring 56 points, but finished a mere 3-of-23 from behind the arc.
