Seven First-Team Selections on 2010 All-RMAC team

Seven UNK Seniors Tabbed 

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney football team, led by unanimous first-team selections Kyle Kaiser and Orion Matthies, has placed 15 players on the 2010 All-RMAC team.

The team, voted on by the league’s head coaches, was released this afternoon (Nov. 16th). Coaches cannot vote for their own players.

Earning first-team offensive honors are Kaiser (WR/Broomfield, Colo.), Matthies (RT/Overton), senior Adam Drudik (LT/Juniata) and junior Rustin Dring (RB/Kearney). Three Lopers made the first-team defense in seniors Mason Brodine (DE/Elm Creek) and Josh Rohde (DL/Eddyville) and sophomore Sam Kuck (S/Central City).

Kaiser and Matthies were two of the three players to earn unanimous selection; the other was Defensive Player of the Year Marc Schiechl of Colorado School of Mines.

Selected to the second-team was sophomore ILB Ethan Kuhlmann (Athol, Kan.) and junior corner Arthur Hobbs (San Diego, Calif.).  Finally, making the third-team was senior OLB Jay Kropp (Grand Island), senior WR/RB Brendan Liess (McCook), junior reserve DE Cory Morten (Loomis), junior DE Alex Paicurich (Westminster, Colo.), junior QB Jake Spitzlberger (Lakewood, Colo), and sophomore DL Justin Thiel (Hastings/Adams Central H.S.).

Matthies earns All-RMAC honors for the fourth straight year and was selected to the first-team for the second season in a row. Brodine, Dring and Rohde also repeat as first-team picks with Kaiser earning his third first-team honor.

Additionally, Drudik and Spitzlberger earn their second all-league selections while the other eight Lopers are named all-conference for the first time in their careers.  

In addition to Schiechl, Mines also had the Offensive Player (junior QB Clay Garcia) and Coach (Bob Stitt) of the Year. Chadron State running back Glen Clinton is the Offensive Freshman of the Year with CSU-Pueblo end Beau Martin the Defensive Freshman of the Year.

Finally, Chadron senior punter Kevin Berg is the Special Teams Player of the Year.
