Pairings Set for 2010 SSC Women's Soccer Championship

ORLANDO, Fla. - With the final conference games concluding on Saturday, the pairings are set for the 2010 Sunshine State Conference Women's Soccer Championship. By virtue of its regular-season co-championship, Nova Southeastern will host the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 5, and the finals on Sunday, Nov. 7. Quarterfinal games will be contested on Tuesday, Nov. 2, at the site of the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds.

The University of Tampa will host Rollins College on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at Pepin Stadium. Tickets will be available at the gate for $8 (adults) and $5 (senior citizens and students).

The top six teams in the final SSC regular-season standings earn bids to the SSC Championship. Teams are awarded three points for a conference win and one point for a conference tie.

Despite a 4-0 loss at Saint Leo on Saturday, Nova Southeastern (9-5-1, 5-2-1 SSC) secured the SSC regular-season co-championship with 16 points. Florida Tech (9-5-1, 5-2-1 SSC), which notched a crucial 2-0 win over Florida Southern on Saturday afternoon, secured the No. 2 seed and a share of the regular-season title by also collecting 16 points. The Sharks won the tiebreaker over the Panthers due to their 2-1 overtime win in the squads' regular-season meeting. By virtue of taking the top two seeds, both NSU and Tech will receive byes for Tuesday's quarterfinal round.

Florida Southern (9-5-2, 5-3 SSC) claimed the third seed in the tournament with 15 points. Tampa (12-5, 5-3 SSC) also accumulated 15 points to earn the No. 4 seed. The Moccasins claimed the tiebreaker over the Spartans compliments of a 2-1 win earlier in the season.

Rollins (10-3-2, 4-2-2 SSC) received the No. 5 seed with 14 points, and Saint Leo (9-6-1, 4-3-1 SSC) picked up the No. 6 seed with 13 points.

In Tuesday's quarterfinal action, Rollins will travel to Tampa, while Saint Leo will play at Florida Southern. Quarterfinal winners will advance to face Nova Southeastern and Florida Tech in Friday's semifinals. Exact times for each match will be released once they are finalized.
