Millersville's Smith Named All-PSAC East First Team; Frantz Selected to Second Team

Millersville, Pa. - Millersville's senior wide receiver Jamal Smith (Camp Hill/Trinity) struck fear into every defense he faced and delivered one of the most productive seasons in Millersville history. The respect he gained from opposing coaches landed him on the All-PSAC Eastern Division First Team. Junior tight end Greg Frantz (Wyndmore/La Salle) also earned second team honors.

Smith came a long way since winning the PSAC East Rookie of the Year Award as a quarterback in 2007. After two and a half seasons at wide receiver, Smith asserted himself into the record books. An All-PSAC East Second Team pick last year, Smith is the first Marauder wide receiver to garner first team honors since Sean Scott and Dondre Gilliam in 2000. He is also one of just 11 players at that position to be named first team since 1952.

An explosive playmaker, Smith nearly broke Scott's 12-game total school record (1,246) with 1,184. Smith was the only player in the PSAC to eclipse 1,000 yards receiving, and he averaged 17.9 yards per catch. He ranked 15th nationally in yards per game. His 12 receiving touchdowns tied for the league lead as well. In 30 games at wide receiver, Smith totaled 2,361 yards and 24 touchdowns, ranking third all-time.

Smith also showed versatility by returning punts and kicks. His 1,685 all-purpose yards was third-most in the PSAC and third in Millersville history. Smith was named PSAC East Offensive Player of the Week following his school record 252 yards receiving in the week three win over Gannon.

Frantz, a redshirt junior, ranked second on the team in receiving touchdowns, and while he didn't post gaudy numbers, he won over rival coaches with his all-around play.

Frantz caught 11 passes including three touchdowns and was also a key blocker in the running game. He is Millersville's first All-PSAC tight end since Chris Hemmert in 1998.
