RICHARDSON, Texas – Abilene Christian's Amos Sang and Anais Belledant were selected as the 2010 Lone Star Conference Cross Country Runners of the Year. The awards were announced Thursday following a vote of the league's head coaches.
The Wildcats Sang earned men’s award for the second straight year, while Belledant was the female winner.
Sang, who claimed the LSC and regional individual title for the second consecutive season, earned all-America honors after racing to a ninth place finish at the NCAA Division II National Championships. He covered the 10k course in 31:10.5. The senior from Eldoret, Kenya led the field at the NCAA Division II South Central Regional with a time of 30:42.96, besting the runner-up by almost 30 seconds. He won the conference title in 23:49 over the 8k course, leading ACU to its 20th straight league crown.
Belledant, a junior from Lyon, France, finished 65th at the national meet with a time of 22:51.6 over the 6k course. She won the regional individual title by more than a minute (22:14.43, 6k), after placing first at the LSC championships (16:07, 4.5k).
