(Crookston, Minn.)- University of Minnesota, Crookston head women’s basketball coach Mike Roysland announced today the signing of Ashley Martell to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Eagles during the 2011-12 season.
Martell is a 5-8, guard from Somerset High School in the Middle Border Conference. She was named to the All-Conference team following her sophomore and junior seasons and averaged 19.6 points per game during her junior campaign.
“Ashley Martell is a dynamite three point shooter and is very effective at attacking the rim,” says Coach Roysland. “Her versatility with being able to handle the basketball and court sense will allow her to play multiple positions.”
Martell plans to major in health sciences at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. She is the daughter of Bruce and Brenda Martell.

The University of Minnesota, Crookston is an NCAA Division II Institution and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). The Golden Eagle Equestrian team is a member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA).
All signees are contingent upon admission to the University of Minnesota, Crookston and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.
