UMSL's Carolyn Holstein Named First Team All-Region

INDIANAPOLIS, IND., November 24, 2010 - Senior libero Carolyn Holstein of the University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team has been named to the Daktronics, Inc., First Team All-Midwest Region, as selected by the region's sports information directors.

Holstein was the Tritons leader in digs (5.02 dpg) and services aces (29) and led the Great Lakes Valley Conference in digs all season and also ranked 36th nationally. Her 492 digs this season tied the second-best single season total and she finished her four-year career ranked second all-time with 1,640 career digs. She also graduates seventh all-time in career service aces (118).

Holstein, also a two-time all-GLVC honoree, helped UMSL to a 20-9 record this season and the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1995.

The Daktronics, Inc. all-region teams are nominated and voted on by sports information directors from schools in the respective regions. It is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., and focuses on awarding outstanding performances by student-athletes at the NCAA Division II level.
