Lewis' Ruedi And Seliga Named To Daktronics All-Midwest Region First Team

Both advance to All-American consideration

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Senior setter Rachel Ruedi (Mahomet, Ill./Mahomet Seymour) and senior outside hitter Lauren Seliga (St. Louis, Mo./Nerinx) have been named to the 2010 Daktronics All-Midwest Region Women’s Volleyball First Team, in a vote of the region’s sports information directors.

Ruedi, the 2010 Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Year, totaled 1,144 assists with a career-best average of 10.69 per set this year. Her 3,847 career assists ranks third all-time in Lewis history. Last season Ruedi was named to the Daktronics Second Team.

Seliga’s all-region nod is the first of her career. She was the only player in the GLVC to lead her team in kills (329) and digs (438). She was twice named the GLVC Player of the Week in 2010. Seliga finished her career with 1,491 digs, second all-time in Lewis history. Her kill total (1,072) ranks ninth all-time and her aces total (135) is seventh.

Both Ruedi and Seliga were named to the Midwest Regional All-Tournament Team last week.

“I'm very proud of both Lauren and Rachel for their individual efforts and team leadership,” head coach Lorelee Smith said. “They both are exceptional players deserving of recognition. I've been privileged to have had the experience of working with them for four wonderful years.”
