Metro State's Morley and Phan Honored by AVCA

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Metro State volleyball players Bri Morley and Ngoc Phan were both named American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Central Region on Wednesday.  Morley was on the first team and Phan was named honorable mention.  Last year, Morley was named AVCA third team All-America.

Morley, a junior outside hitter from Parker, Colo., led the Roadrunners in kills this season, totaling 458 in 122 sets played, an average of 3.75 per set.  She also hit .234 and averaged 4.29 points per set, adding 52 blocks and 31 aces this season.  She currently ranks 30th in the nation in kills per set and 36th in points per set.  Morley was also named Daktronics first team all-region this morning.

Phan, a junior libero from Lone Tree, Colo., led Metro State with an average of 4.47 digs per set this season, totalying 537 in 120 sets.  She also had a .975 serve-receive percentage and added 18 service aces.  After taking over the starting libero spot at the beginning of October, Phan averaged 5.75 digs per set and led the team to a 15-3 record with its three losses coming to teams ranked in the AVCA top-10 nationally.  She was named AVCA National Player of the Week on Nov. 2.

Metro State reached the NCAA Central Region semifinals before falling to three-time defending national champion and top-ranked Concordia-St. Paul.  The Roadrunners had a 25-7 record this year, their second straight 25-win season and the fifth in Head Coach Debbie Hendricks' 11th year at Metro State. They have topped the 20-win mark in nine of those years.
