Molly Downtain, Lisa Webster and Blake Lopes earn postseason awards
WALNUT CREEK The Chico State women¹s soccer team may be sitting out postseason play, but a lot of top-notch performances highlighted the Wildcats¹ 2010 campaign. The outstanding efforts of three Chico State players were recognized this week when defender Molly Downtain was named to the 2010 All-California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women¹s Soccer Second Team, while teammates Lisa Webster and Blake Lopes earned all-conference honorable mentions.
This is the second All-CCAA honor for Downtain, who received an honorable mention following the 2009 season. In addition to logging more minutes that any Chico State player this season, Downtain complemented her defensive
efforts by scoring two goals for the ¹Cats.
Webster, a junior midfielder, was Chico State¹s leading scorer, booting home a career-high eight goals and also contributing three assists. She now has 14 goals, 14 assists and 42 points in three seasons as a Wildcat.
Lopes, also a junior midfielder, posted three assists for the Wildcats, who finished the 2010 season with an 8-9-1 record.
