Karlton Graves Selected ESPN Academic All-American

PORTLAES, N.M. — Senior offensive tackle Karlton Graves (Brownood, Texas/Brownwood HS) from the Eastern New Mexico University football team has been selected Second Team ESPN Academic All-American for his outstanding efforts on the gridiron and in the classroom during the 2010 season. With the selection, Graves is the ENMU football team’s first Academic All-America selection since Ty Touchstone, following the 2003 season.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program’s inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 15,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.

Graves’ selection capped a career which saw him garner First Team Academic All-District laurels three consecutive years and Lone Star Conference North Division Academic Player of the Year honors in 2010. He also made First Team All-LSC North as a deep snapper and second team as an offensive tackle in his final season.
