Chadron State College’s Glen Clinton has been named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and Nebraska Division II Special Teams Player of the Week for his stellar performance in the Eagles’ 38-31 victory over then ranked No. 16 Colorado School of Mines Saturday in Chadron.
Clinton, a redshirt freshman from Cody, Wyo., played a big role in the Eagles’ upset win over the Orediggers. He scored the game-winning touchdown when he returned a kickoff 88 yards with just over a minute remaining in the fourth quarter. Clinton also ran for 82 yards and a touchdown in the game.
For the season, Clinton has accumulated 1,649 all-purpose yards and scored eight touchdowns. He’s also rushed for 1,015 yards, becoming the first CSC tailback to reach that mark since Danny Woodhead did it in 2007.
The Eagles (8-3, 6-2 RMAC) will conclude their 2010 season at Mesa State on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
Sharing the Special Teams Player of the Week honor with Clinton is Wayne State punter Randy Weich, who averaged 50.4 yards on five punts, including a school-record 95-yarder.
