INDIANAPOLIS – The Alaska Anchorage volleyball team received an at-large bid Thursday to the NCAA Division II Tournament and will play Great Northwest Athletic Conference rival Western Washington in a first-round match Thursday, Nov. 18, in San Bernardino, Calif.
Head coach Chris Green's Seawolves (18-8) are seeded No. 6 in the West Regional while the Vikings (19-3) are No. 3. UAA and WWU split their regular-season encounters with each team prevailing on its respective home court.
This will be the second straight trip to the NCAAs for UAA and the fourth in program history. The winner of the UAA-WWU match will meet the winner between No. 2 seed Seattle Pacific (24-2) and No. 7 Cal State-Los Angeles (16-10).
The other side of the West Regional bracket will feature first-round matches between host and top-seed Cal State-San Bernardino (25-2) vs. No. 8 BYU-Hawaii (16-7), and No. 5 Sonoma State (17-9) vs. No. 4 UC San Diego (18-8).
Start times for Thursday’s matches are to be announced.
