Lindsey Moss Too Much for Reinhardt in 34-point Victory

DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia women's basketball team showed little signs of a 16-day layoff on Monday evening, using a 19-0 run midway through the first half to run away with an 81-47 victory over Reinhardt University in non-conference action.

The Lady Saints, now winners in six of their last seven games, improve to 7-2 on the year, while the Eagles fall to 8-6 overall on the season.

North Georgia jumped on top early, scoring the game's first five points behind three different players, but the Eagles answered right back with a three-pointer from the hands of Jessie Clark and a layup from Kelsey Galyon to knot the score at 5-5 with 15:30 remaining in the half.

The Lady Saints then took control, pushing the lead to double digits at the 10:55 mark behind a long ball from Lindsey Moss, making it an 18-8 North Georgia advantage. After the Eagles trimmed the lead to single digits at 21-12, the Lady Saints exploded offensively, scoring 19 straight points over a six-minute span to give the home team a 28-point lead at 40-12 with 1:34 remaining.

With time running down in regulation, Moss found Kari McCann on the left wing and the junior pulled up from 28 feet out and drained a three-pointer as the buzzer sounded, giving North Georgia their largest lead of the half at 43-14 heading to intermission.

The Lady Saints continued to apply the pressure in the second half as Reinhardt never managed to pull closer then 21 points in the second period, and the North Georgia's lead swelled to a game-high 37 points off a pair of free throws from Tiffany Marlow in the final minute. The 34-point victory was the largest margin of victory this season for the Lady Saints who improve to 4-1 on the year at home.

Moss led the way with a game-high 26 points, coming up a rebound shy of a double-double in the victory. She was 9-for-14 from the field, 6-for-8 from the charity stripe, and went 2-for-4 from long range in 32 minutes of action.

Janyce Ealey tallied the game's only double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Jessica Trice finished in double figures thanks to her 3-for-5 performance from behind the arc.

Sarah Hewett was the leading scorer for the Eagles, she was 4-for-15 from the field, but her trio of three-pointers and perfect 2-for-2 stint from the free throw line gave her 11 points in 27 minutes of action.

The Lady Saints will have two days off before welcoming Newberry College to town on Thursday evening for another non-conference showdown. Tip-off against the Wolves is set for 5:30 p.m. in Memorial Hall.
