Cara Deroy Chosen As NE-10 Women's Basketball Rookie Of The Week

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College women's basketball freshman Cara Deroy (Hamden, Conn./Hamden) was chosen as the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week, it was announced on Monday.

Deroy had an impressive collegiate debut in the Purple Knights 80-64 win at the University of Massachusetts Lowell on Wednesday, scoring a team-best 15 points. She shot 5-of-8 from the field and 4-of-5 from the foul line, and added five rebounds and two assists in 21 minutes off the bench.

The win marked the first time Saint Michael's has scored at least 80 points on the road since an 85-74 overtime victory at Dominican (N.Y.) College on Jan. 21, 2008.

Saint Michael's returns to action on Tuesday with a 5:30 p.m. contest at nationally-ranked Franklin Pierce University.
