Wolves Run Past Cobras, 102-85

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Senior Tom Wright (Sydney, Australia) had a team high 19 points in the Cobra men's basketball team's 102-85 loss to the Newberry College Wolves on Tuesday night.

Coker shot 47.4 percent (27-of-57) from the field for the game, while Newberry shot 53.8 percent (28-of-52), but it was free throws that made the difference. The Wolves sank 42 of 53 shots from the charity stripe with Tony Davis knocking down 17 of his game high 29 points from the line for Newberry.

Despite the 17-point margin of victory, Coker was within striking distance for the majority of the game. The score was tied at 38 at halftime and was knotted at 73-all with just six minutes left in the second half, but a nine point run by the Wolves down the stretch gave Newberry the lead they needed to secure the win.

Along with Wright's 19 point game, Jonathon Gardner (Florence, S.C.) and Delonte Doles (Roswell, Ga.) each scored in double figures. Gardner netted 13 and Doles scored 11.

Davis led the Wolves with 29 points, while Shamel Akins had 18 points and Brunes Charles had 15. Jawuan Lockhart reached the double figure mark with 10 points and Chris Reyniolds had a game high eight rebounds.

The Cobras will now take a break for the holidays. Their first game back will be a Conference Carolinas match at home on January 3 at 7:30 p.m. against St. Andrews.
