ST. LOUIS, MO., December 2, 2010 - Visiting Wisconsin-Parkside scored 14 unanswered points to open the second half, igniting an 18-2 run and erasing a seven-point halftime deficit en route to a 75-56 victory over the University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team Thursday night in the Great Lakes Valley Conference opener for both teams.
After shooting 48.1 percent in the first half and taking a 36-29 lead into the intermission, the Tritons were held scoreless in the first six minutes 36 seconds of the second stanza and shot just 25.9 percent in the final 20 minutes of play.
UMSL slips to 3-3 overall and 0-1 in the GLVC with the loss, while Wisconsin-Parkside moves its ledger to 4-1 and 1-0 in the league with the win.
Freshman Hana Haden led the Tritons with 13 points, hitting four three-pointers. Senior Kelly Mitchell added three three-pointers for nine points.
UMSL finished the contest shooting 37 percent, while the Rangers connected on 53.8 percent from the field, including 62.1 percent in the second half. UWP also held a 35-28 rebounding advantage.
Junior Normeka Holder pulled down a team-best five rebounds for the Tritons, while Haden and junior Caitlyn Moody each dished out three assists.
Wisconsin-Parkside was led by Jadee Rooney's game-high 21 points.
UMSL returns to action Saturday, hosting Lewis at 1 p.m.
