Saint Michael's Women's Basketball Rebounds For 62-49 Win Versus Palm Beach Atlantic

MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Saint Michael's College women's basketball team (4-5) rebounded from a tough loss less than 24 hours earlier with a 62-49 win versus Palm Beach Atlantic University on Sunday in the Consolation Game of the Florida Institute of Technology/Carmax Holiday Tournament.

For the Purple Knights, junior Coreen Hennessy (Chatham, N.H./Fryeburg Academy) led a balanced scoring attack with 14 points in just 15 minutes of action, making 5-of-7 shots from the field. Classmate Caitlin Quinn (Oakdale, Conn./Montville) added 11 points and four steals for Saint Michael's, which suffered a 61-60 loss on Saturday to the University of West Florida in the tournament's semifinal round. Senior Logan Pintka (Schenectady, N.Y./Colonie Central) chipped in with nine points and a team-high eight rebounds, and was named to the All-Tournament Team.

For Palm Beach Atlantic (1-10), Liz Fugate scored a game-high 17 points and added eight rebounds, while Ashley Dolberry added 11 points and six rebounds.

Saint Michael's never trailed in the contest, as the Purple Knights took the lead for good with a 7-0 run early in the game to take a 9-2 lead. Saint Michael's opened up a double-digit advantage later in the opening period, and settled on a 34-26 halftime edge.

The Purple Knights scored the first four points of the second half to take a 12-point lead, and led by at least 10 points for the remainder of the contest. Saint Michael's made 19-of-22 free throws in the contest to keep the Sailfish at bay, and outrebounded PBAU 39-32 in the game.

Saint Michael's returns to action on January 2 with a 1:30 p.m. home game versus Northeast-10 Conference rival Bentley University at the Ross Sports Center.
