McQuilliams, Renko and DeGeneres Named All-Region

ALAMOSA, Colo. - Metro State had three players named to the Daktronics All-Central Region women's soccer teams on Tuesday.  Madison McQuilliams and Nicole Renko were both first team selections and Aleah DeGeneres was named to the second team.

McQuilliams, a senior midfielder from Bakersfield, Calif., finished the year with six goals and four assists for 16 points, third-best on the team.  She was also second on the team in shot attempts. She finished the year sixth in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in goals and second in game-winning goals in conference games.  She was also named first team All-RMAC.  McQuilliams earned second team all-region last year.

Renko, a senior defender from Aurora, Colo., did not recording any points, but was the team's top defender.  Battling an injury, she started 20 of the team's 21 games and helped the Roadrunners post a 0.71 goals against average.  She finished second on the team with a +18 plus/minus rating this season.  Renko was a first team All-RMAC selection.

DeGeneres, a junior forward from Littleton, Colo., led Metro State with 10 goals and added three points for a team-high 23 points.  She also led the team with 67 shot attempts and 37 shots on goal.  She finished the year fourth in the conference in goals and seventh in points in conference games.  DeGeneres was named second team All-RMAC and ESPN second team Academic All-District.

Metro State finished the year with a 12-5-4 record, including 8-4-2 in the RMAC.  The Roadrunners qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the ninth straight year, the second-longest active streak in NCAA Division II.
