Kearney, Neb. - Chadron State's Kevin McClelland and Wayne State's Ashley Arlen are the Nebraska D2 Players of the Week for December 6th.
A 6-4 junior guard from Long Beach, Calif., McClelland helped the Eagles (3-2) beat RMAC foes Mesa State, 78-61, and Western State, 84-63, this past weekend. The win over Mesa was the Eagles first since the 2002-03 season.
McClelland averaged 20.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in the games while shooting 54.5 percent from the field and 75.0 percent from the line. On the year, he is averaging 17.8 ppg, tied for second in the RMAC.
Arlen, a 6-2 junior post from Cascade, Iowa, helped the 18th-ranked Wildcats (5-1) easily beat NSIC rivals Minnesota State, 80-49, and SW Minnesota State, 60-44.
Shooting over 50 percent from the field and over 80 percent at the line, she posted a double double at Mankato (26 pts., 12 rebs.) and then had 11 points and six boards in Marshall.
