KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Juniors Richard Dixon (Royal Palm Beach, Fla./Royal Palm Beach HS) and Sean Reynolds (Fort Walton Beach, Fla./Fort Walton Beach HS) of the West Florida men’s soccer team were selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Performance Suburu All-South Region Team, it was announced by the NSCAA. Dixon’s selection is his third career all-region honor, joining Keith Savage as the only other Argonaut to earn three all-region nods.
Dixon was one of four midfielders selected to the NSCAA All-South Region first team, marking the team’s 11th first team selection in school history. The junior earned second team honors in his first two years in 2008 and 2009. Reynolds earned his first career all-region honor this year in 2010.
Dixon had an injury-plagued 2010 season, but he still played in 13 of the team’s 21 games and made an impact in his 931 minutes on the field. The center midfielder scored one goal with one assist this season. Reynolds was an All-Gulf South Conference first team selection this year, and he saw action in 15 games for UWF. The junior scored three goals, including two game-winners, and added one assist.
The 2010 season was a successful one for the UWF men’s soccer team, as the Argos won their eighth GSC championship and fifth in a row. UWF also advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in school history, losing to eventual national runner-up Rollins in the first round.
