Czerniewski headlines 14 football Mules on All-MIAA Team

(Warrensburg, Mo.) – The University of Central Missouri Mules football squad had 14 student-athletes named to the All-MIAA team today, and senior quarterback Eric Czerniewski became the first MIAA Offensive Player of the Year for UCM since 1988 (Elliot Eley), and only the eighth ever.

Czerniewski (Montgomery City, Mo.) leads the MIAA in total offense (4,131), passing yards, and TD passes (34), while breaking the MIAA single-season passing record with 4,105 yards. He also shattered every single-season passing record at UCM. This is the third season he has earned All-MIAA honors, the first two being honorable mention kudos.

He was joined on the first team by three other offensive seniors in Anthony Stewart (Plainfield, Ill.), Jamorris Warren (Belle Glade, Fla.), and DeMarco Cosby (Kansas City, Mo.). On the defensive side, Marlon Douglas (Memphis, Tenn.) was a first-team pick.

Stewart led the MIAA in all-purpose yards (159.5), while becoming the only player in school history to record 1,000 career yards both rushing and receiving. He was named to the second-team a year ago.
Cosby makes his second appearance on the first-team, and third All-MIAA selection overall. He leads all tight ends in the league with 55 grabs for 727 yards and eight TD’s.

Warren led the MIAA with 90 catches, and broke the school records for catches, yards (1,205), and TD grabs (16).

Douglas led the team with three interceptions and six pass break-ups, while returning two for touchdowns.

Sophomore offensive lineman Logan Freeman (Jefferson City, Mo.) was a second team selection, along with kicker Aaron Jamieson (Cassville, Mo.) and defensive tackle P.J. South (Hanover Park, Ill.).
The Mules had six players picked to the honorable mention squad with wide receiver/ punt returner Adam Parks (Olathe, Kan.), fullback Brent Boehringer (St. Charles, Mo.), offensive lineman Darius Henderson (Chicago, Ill.), defensive end Deonte McDonald (Bolingbrook, Ill.), linebacker Cody Scribner (Overland Park, Kan.), and cornerback Deonte Ball (Bolingbrook, Ill.).

UCM finished the regular season 9-2, and took second in the MIAA with a school best matching 8-1 mark. The Mules will play West Texas A&M on Saturday in the first ever playoff game on the UCM campus at 1:05 p.m. from Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field.
