Mines Rolls Past Lopers Men's Basketball, 96-68

Kearney, Neb. – The Colorado School of Mines men’s basketball team had four starters score in double figures to beat Nebraska-Kearney, 96-68, Friday night in Golden, Colo.

The Orediggers remain unbeaten on the year (8-0, 4-0 RMAC) while the Lopers slip to 5-4 (3-2 RMAC).

Leading almost the entire way, Mines shot 50.8 percent (31 of 61) from the field while out rebounding the Lopers by nine, 42-33. The ‘Diggers also committed just 10 turnovers and went 29 of 39 at the line.  Getting out to a 14-8 lead seven minutes into the game, Mines led by 15 at the break, 37-22, and held at least a 13 point cushion in the second half.

Junior forward Gordon Galloway scored a game-high 23 points on 7 of 11 shooting with fellow post Dale Mischwaner sinking 6 of 9 shots to tally 16 points. The pair also combined to pull down 14 rebounds and block three shots. In the backcourt, Sean Armstrong and Brett Green combined for 27 points, seven assists and four rebounds.

UNK saw freshman post Mike Dentlinger (Millard North) tally a team-high 15 points on 7 of 11 shooting with reserves Ben Klein (12) and Jesse Hill (10) also reaching double digits.

The Lopers play at Colorado Christian Saturday night.
