The eight-team field, including four men’s and four women’s teams, will be held November 12-14 with both the UC San Diego men’s and women’s team representing the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).
The tournament format calls for four games - two men’s and two women’s - to be played each day over three days.
The men’s field will be comprised of Alaska-Anchorage, Dixie State, Lewis and UC San Diego. The women’s field will include Alaska-Anchorage, Grand Canyon, Texas Woman’s University and UC San Diego.
Dixie State (20-6), a member of the Pac West Conference is the lone team on the men’s side that advanced to the NCAA Tournament during the 2009-10 campaign. Alaska Anchorage posted a 17-10 record a year ago while playing in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC).
Lewis went 17-12 while playing as a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and UC San Diego posted an 8-17 overall record and placed ninth in the CCAA last season.
Two of the four teams on the women’s side reached the NCAA Tournament during the 2009-10 campaign. Alaska Anchorage (24-5) finished third in the GNAC and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament where it fell to conference rival Seattle Pacific.
UC San Diego (25-5), which captured the CCAA regular-season crown, suffered a first-round NCAA Tournament setback to conference foe Humboldt State.
Grand Canyon (19-8) tied for second in the Pac West, while Texas Woman’s University, a member of the Lone State Conference, posted a 15-12 overall mark a year ago.
Tournament pass for all 12 games can be purchased for $30. Single-session tickets (2 games) are $8 for general admission and $5 for students and seniors. Two-session tickets (4 games) are $15 for general admission and $10 for students and seniors.
