Marauders Lead Wire-to-Wire in 66-52 Win Over Lincoln

Millersville, Pa. - With a steal and slam dunk, center Elijah Obade gave Millersville its first points and set the tone for the rest of Saturday's home game versus Lincoln. The Marauders never relinquished the lead and pulled away for a 66-52 victory.

Millersville (2-2) managed the victory despite converting just 34.5 percent of its shots. It wasn't pretty, but after losing its previous two games by a total seven points, style points hardly mattered. Obade and freshman Mike Holley made sure that the end result was in favor of the Marauders. For the fourth time in as many games, Holley paced the Marauders in scoring and assists. He tallied 15 points and established season-highs with eight rebounds, six assists and four steals.

Obade scored a career-high 13 points and pulled down eight rebounds. His first points came emphatically. Just 38 seconds into the contest, the 6-9 center intercepted a pass from Richard Glover and dribbled the length of floor for a powerful, one-handed jam.

Obade scored Millersville's first seven points, and Mike Seibert and Holley drilled back-to-back 3-pointers to give the Marauders an early 13-4 advantage. Jim Kelleher added a 3-pointer just inside the 10-minute mark to give Millersville its largest lead of the first half, 21-9.

Lincoln managed to whittle Millersville's lead back to six and kept the deficit at no more than 10 points until the final five minutes of the game. Jaymes Miller's free throw and basket at 4:56 started a 13-5 Millersville run that put the Marauders up as many as 17 points.

Miller, Kelleher and Rob Wyley gave the Marauders a spark off the bench. Miller finished with six points, three rebounds and two steals. Kelleher hit three 3-pointers and totaled 11 points. Wyley, who entered the game as the PSAC leader in rebounding, pulled down seven and chipped in eight points.

Lincoln (0-5) was led by Denzel Mooney's 16 points.

The Marauders host University of the Sciences on Thursday, Dec. 9. Game time is 8 p.m.
