Kaduboski Shines as Bentley Claims Northeast-10 Invitational Title

WALTHAM, Mass. - An outstanding day by senior Anne Kaduboski (Dedham/Dedham HS), one that included two wins, a school record and an NCAA “B” cut, helped the Bentley University women’s swimming team claim the championship of the two-day Northeast-10 Invitational, which concluded Sunday at Bentley’s Dana Center pool.

Bentley pulled out the team victory with 817 points, besting runner-up Southern Connecticut State by 31.5 points. Assumption College was third with 681, and the remainder of the field included Pace University (517), the College of Saint Rose (506) and St. Michael’s College (327.5).

Kaduboski earned gold in both the 200 yard backstroke and the 200 butterfly. She posted a pool record time of 2:06.95 in the 200 back, winning by 1.83 seconds. In the 200 fly, her winning effort of 2:06.21 improved on the “B” cut time that she had achieved last month by more than two seconds.

Kaduboski’s school record came during a second-place finish in the 100 backstroke, her time of 1:00.04 bettering the record she set in February 2009 by 0.33 seconds. In the same event, sophomore teammate Monika Drogosz (Unionville, Conn./Farmington HS) was fourth in 1:03.36.

Kaduboski also finished second in the 100 butterfly (58.22) and swam the opening leg on two Falcon relay teams that recorded second-place finishes. She teamed with freshman Heather Exley (Oceanside, Calif./Vista HS), junior Susie Boretti (Westford/Westford Academy) and freshman Kellen Power (San Jose, Calif./Valley Christian HS) for a time of 8:09.05 in the 800 free relay, and with Drogosz, Power and sophomore Jessica Hodsdon (Brewer, Maine/Brewer HS) for a 3:41.46 in the 400 free relay.

Hodsdon had Bentley’s other first place finish of the meet’s second day, taking the 100 breaststroke in a pool record 1:07.10. Freshman Erin Campbell (Marshfield/Marshfield HS) also scored high in the 100 breast, placing third in 1:09.75. In the 200 breast, Hodsdon and Campbell were third and fourth respectively, with times of 2:31.16 and 2:31.39.

Bentley’s other second-place showings were recorded by senior Emily Travers (Exeter, N.H./ Brentwood HS) in the three-meter diving (229.05), Power in the 100 free (54.68) and the 200 medley relay team of Drogosz, Hodsdon, Boretti and Amy Shin (Lancaster/Nashoba Reg. HS) (1:54.46).

In the three-meter diving, in addition to Travers’ second, sophomore Abby Mathews (Chelmsford/Chelmsford HS) was fourth in 2:17.26.

Bentley’s next action will be a triangular with Regis at Norwich University Saturday.
