Bloomsburg Men's and Women's Swim Teams Wrap up Zippy Invitational

AKRON,OH—The Bloomsburg University women’s swim team wrapped up competition at the Zippy Invitational on Sunday with several school top10 all-time performances.

In the 200-breast Brittany McNeil (Oxford, Oxford Area) finished ninth overall in the event in 2:24.89, a mark that was second fastest in school history. In the 200-back Sarah Grawe (Stafford, VA, North Stafford) posted a time of 2:11.04 in the prelims, the eighth best mark in school history, while in the finals she swam a 2:12.35, a time just outside of the top 10.

In the 200-fly, Madeline Barlow (Yardley, Pennsbury) finished seventh overall in the race with a mark of 2:09.01, the fifth best time in school history. In the prelims Barlow swam a 2:09.48, seventh best in school history. The 1650-free saw Miranda Steel (Hillsborough, NJ, Hillsborough) finish 11th overall in 17:52.16.

The Huskies will be idle till January 3,2011 when they travel to Florida for their semester break training period.

MEN

AKRON,OH—The Bloomsburg University men’s swim team wrapped up competition at the Zippy Invitational on Sunday with several school top10 all-time performances.

In the 1650 free John King (Ridley Park, Ridley) swam a 16:56.22 to finish seventh overall. His time was the fifth fastest in school history. In the same event Brendan Malone (Horsham, Hatboro-Horsham) finished in 17:10.51, the seventh best time in school history.

In the 200 back Erik Stefferud (West Chester, Henderson) posted a time of 1:57.08, the fifth best mark in school history, while in the 100-free Mike Wallace (Bloomsburg, Bloomsburg) finished 10th overall in the fifth best time in school history, 46.96 seconds.

The 200-breaststroke saw Tim Dorsch (Schwenksville, Souderton Area) swim a 2:12.94, seventh best all-time at Bloomsburg, while Kyle Weisenbach (Lincoln University, Avon Grove) posted a mark of 2:13.37 with Michael Busada (Bloomsburg, Columbia County Christian) right behind in 2:13.45.

In the 200-fly Thomas Malloy (Lancaster, Lancaster Catholic) finished sixth in 1:56.63 in 1:56.63, the fifth best time in school history. In the prelims Malloy posted a mark of 1:55.51, the third best mark for Bloomsburg. In the same event, Mark DiLemmo (Doylestown, Central Bucks East) was 11th in 1:58.04. In the prelims Dilemmo posted a mark of 1:57.70, sixth best time in school history.

In the final event of the meet, the 400-free relay the Huskies team of Ryan Lightner (Lebanon, Cedar Crest), Derek Straub (Sinking Spring, Wilson), Pat Malone (Sewell, N.J., Goucester Catholic) and Mike Wallace posted a mark of 3:09.65 just missing the school record in the event by .09 seconds.

The Huskies will be idle till January 3,2011 when they travel to Florida for their semester break training period.
