ERIE, Pa. - Gannon’s Tyler Batts (Homestead, Pa./Penn-Trafford) will get a chance to show off his skills to a large group of professional football scouts. The senior tailback is one of only four NCAA Division II players to be invited to play in the FCS Senior Scout Bowl December 11 in Hillburn, New York.
Batts will be the only non-NCAA Division I-AA player on the North Team. Three NCAA Division II players have been invited to play on the South Team. The remainder of both rosters is filled with NCAA Division I-AA players. The week of the FCS Senior Scout Bowl will feature a series of practices in front of professional scouts, before the actual game kicks off December 11.
Batts was Gannon leading rusher and receiver in 2010. He ranked eighth among Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) players and 73rd among all NCAA Division II players in rushing yards per game (69.4). His senior season statistics included 197 carries, 763 rushing yards, six rushing touchdowns, 32 receptions, 279 receiving yards and 1,083 all-purpose yards. He recorded the fifth-highest single-season all-purpose total in school history, the 10th-highest single-season rushing mark and the 11th-highest single-season reception total.
The Homestead, Pa., native concluded his two-year collegiate career 10th all-time at Gannon in rushing yards (1,250), 10th in all-purpose yards (2,144) and 16th in total offense (1,250).
