Felician Women's Basketball BRuns Winning Streak to Six

WATERBURY, Conn. -- Felician College used balanced scoring and hefty shooting and rebounding advantages to earn a 71-53 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division women's basketball victory over host Post University on Thursday evening at the Drubner Center. Felician (6-1, 2-0 CACC) has won six consecutive games.

Freshman Katrina Plummer (West Babylon, NY) led five Golden Falcon scorers in double figures with 16 points and eight rebounds. Felician received double-doubles from junior guard Destiny Barnette (Paterson, NJ) (13 points, 10 rebounds) and senior forward Quay Baskerville (Hartford, CT) (10 points, 10 rebounds). The Golden Falcons out-rebounded the Eagles, 57-32, including 19-7 on the offensive glass.

Felician, which never trailed, used an 11-0 run late in the first half to turn a 15-15 tie into a 26-15 lead with four minutes, 15 seconds to go until halftime. Freshmen Plummer and Jacquel Saunders (Trenton, NJ) (12 points) did all the scoring in the run. The Golden Falcons extended a 28-19 halftime bulge to 36-22 with 17:32 to play. The Eagles would close to within 41-35 at the 10:10 mark, but a three-point field goal by Tierra Cleaves (Paterson, NJ) (13 points, seven rebounds) touched off a quick 8-2 Felician burst allowing the visitors to regain control. The Golden Falcons took their largest lead, 63-44, with 4:23 remaining.

The Golden Falcons shot 44 percent from the field and held Post (2-7, 1-2) to 28-percent shooting. It is the fourth time this season Felician has held an opponent under 30 percent.
