Karin Eriksson Earns Second Consecutive ESPN/CoSIDA District 2 Third All-Academic Team Selection

PIKE CREEK, Del. – Junior Karin Eriksson of the Goldey-Beacom College women’s soccer team has been named to the ESPN/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) District 2 Third All-Academic Team for the second consecutive year, it was announced late afternoon, Tues., Nov. 2.

Eriksson, an international business major with a 3.90 grade point average, was among 14 players selected to the Third Team based on her athletic and academic accomplishments. The voting was conducted by sports information directors at member schools.

To be eligible for the team, student athletes must carry a 3.2 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale, have at least sophomore eligibility and be a starter or a key reserve for their respective teams. District 2 includes all NCAA Division II schools in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Eriksson was one of two players representing the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference on any of the three District 2 All-Academic teams. The other CACC selection was Philadelphia University’s Erin Walter.

A native of Stockholm, Sweden, Eriksson started all 15 games for the Lightning this season. She was second on the team offensively with nine points on four goals and one assist. She also ranked third on the team in shots with 29, putting 15 on goal. For her career, Eriksson ranks third on the all-time goals scored list with 22.
