NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.- Merrimack College will serve as the host institution for the 2010 New England Women’s Intercollegiate Soccer Association Senior Bowl December 4. Three Warriors were selected to take part in the annual event. Seniors Ashley Alnwick (Groton, Mass.), Lindsey deMont (Littleton, Mass.) and Jessie DeGraan (Braintree, Mass.) were among 21 players selected from around the Northeast-10 Conference.
Alnwick ranked fourth on the team with three goals and two assists, good for eight points. The Groton, Mass. native was one of two co-captains of the Merrimack women’s soccer team this fall. She started all 20 games for the Warriors at the center midfield position.
A product of Littleton, Mass., deMont has registered three assists in the 2010 campaign for the Warriors. She has also been a dominant force on the backline this season. She has started in all 18 of Merrimack’s matches this year and has fired three shots on net. The senior picked up Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Week honors in the second week of the season and was tabbed to the Northeast-10 All-Conference second team.
DeGraan, a midfielder out of Braintree, Mass., paced the Warriors with six assists and tallied her only goal in the final regular season match, a 1-0 win over Stonehill. DeGraan was named to the Northeast-10 Conference All-Tournament team this season and made all 20 starts for Merrimack.
Merrimack posted a 12-5-3 overall record during the season and went 11-3-1 in the conference. The Warriors reached the semifinals of the Northeast-10 Conference playoffs before being eliminated by Franklin Pierce. Merrimack advanced to the semifinals after downing UMass Lowell 5-4 in penalty kicks in the quarters.
The annual match is slated for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff at Warrior Field.
