ORLANDO, Fla. - After leading the No. 3 University of Tampa volleyball team to three wins and clinching the Sunshine State Conference regular season championship, Melissa Vanderhall has been honored as the SSC Offensive Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 7.
Vanderhall, a senior outside hitter from Hempstead, N.Y., helped the Spartans lock up their sixth consecutive SSC title with three conference wins. Vanderhall averaged 4.2 kills, 3.3 digs, 0.7 assists, and 0.7 blocks per set, while hitting at a solid .400 clip. Vanderhall opened the week with 11 kills, eight digs, and two blocks in a three-set sweep against Saint Leo. She then tallied 14 kills, 13 digs, one block and four assists in a sweep at Florida Tech. She concluded the week with 13 kills, nine digs, three blocks, and two assists in a three-set win at Lynn.
