Dominican's Janusch, Collins Earn Weekly Conference Honors

PHOENIX, Ariz. — Dominican University of California basketball players Kelsey Janusch and Ian Collins have been named to the Pacific West Conference Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll for games played December 6 to 12.

Janusch was named to the women’s Honor Roll after averaging 17 points in a pair of games, a win over Cal State East Bay and a loss to Humboldt State. The senior from Novato, Calif. (Marin Catholic HS) also averaged 2.5 assists and two three-pointers per game. She his 14-of-16 (.875) free throw attempts, placing her in a tie for foul shooting for the week in the PacWest. Janusch also tied for second in scoring in the conference for the week. She went 4-of-8 (.500) from deep and ranked fifth in three-point shooting for the week in the PacWest.

Collins, a sophomore from Santa Rosa, Calif. (Piner HS) scored 15 points and pulled down nine rebounds in the Penguins’ lone game of the week, a tough 70-62 loss to Cal State LA. He went 7-for-11 (.636) from the floor. He scored 10 points in six minutes that helped the Penguins cut a 20-point lead all the way to a single point.

The Dominican men host the Dominican Classic, including their first home game, on Friday, December 17 and Saturday, December 18. The Penguins will face Saint Martin’s University on Friday and nationally-ranked Seattle Pacific University on Saturday. Tipoff for both games is slated for 7:30 p.m. The Dominican women play their next game on Saturday, December 18 when Cal State Monterey Bay visits the Conlan Center. Tipoff is slated for 2:00 p.m. before the final day of the Dominican Classic.
