Evans, Stark and Woodworth garner Daktronics First Team All-Central Region honors

GOLDEN, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines’ Anna Evans, Jessica Stark and Megan Woodworth have all been named Daktronics First Team All-Central Region.

The first team selections, made up of four forwards, four midfielders, four defenders and a goalkeeper will now be placed on the national ballot for Daktronics All-America honors that will be announced on Dec. 1.

Evans, a freshman midfielder from Arvada, Colo. (Arvada West H.S.), was the first women’s soccer player in the history of Mines to be named Freshman of the Year. A Second Team All-RMAC selection, Evans has started all 21 matches this season for Mines. Evans finished the season with 11 goals which ranks her fourth in the RMAC. Evans added four assists and finished with 26 total points ranking her third in the RMAC in total points.

Stark, a senior defender from Abilene, Texas (Cooper H.S.), garnered First Team All-RMAC accolades for the first time in her career this season. A Pre-Season All-RMAC selection, Stark started all 21 matches this season for Mines. Stark finished the season with five goals and one assist.

Woodworth, a sophomore midfielder from Centennial, Colo. (Smoky Hill H.S.), garnered First Team All-RMAC honors. A Pre-Season All-RMAC selection, Woodworth ranks second in the RMAC in assists (10), fifth in points (25) and eighth in goals (7). Woodworth established a new single-game record for assists (3) and a new single-season record for assists this season.

The Orediggers finished the 2010 season with a record of 11-6-4 overall and 9-4-1 in the RMAC. Mines appeared in the RMAC Tournament for the fourth straight season. The 2010 season marked the third consecutive season CSM earned an NCAA Tournament berth in just the sixth season of the program.

The team is voted on by sports information directors from the Central Region made up of 25 women’s soccer playing institutions from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
