RICHARDSON, TEXAS — Junior forward Aaron Edwards (Long Beach, Calif. / Gardena HS/San Bernardino Valley College) from the Eastern New Mexico University men’s basketball team has been selected as the Lone Star Conference South Division Defensive Player of the Week for his strong play in the Greyhounds’ season-opening victory against Northern New Mexico, last weekend.
Edwards is the first ENMU men’s basketball player to receive LSC weekly honors since Victor Reid (Sr., G/F, El Paso, Texas/Cochise CC) was chosen as the LSC South Offensive Player of the Week, last season, on January 19th.
Edwards turned in a dominant performance against NNM last weekend, making his Greyhound debut with a double double (16 points, 18 rebounds). He had eight defensive rebounds, a blocked shot and three steals. In the first half alone, Edwards had nine points, 10 rebounds and two steals. He helped preserve the tight win for the Hounds, registering five rebounds in the final 8:37 of play.
