INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - After earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II women's soccer tournament, The University of Tampa will open play versus the University of North Alabama in a match that will be played at the host site of the University of West Florida.
The champions of the 2010 Sunshine State Conference women's soccer tournament will meet the Lions on Friday at 5 p.m. central time in Pensacola, Fla. The winner will advance to face the Argonauts on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. central. The winners of the respective South Regional semifinals will then meet on Nov. 19. The other bracket will feature host Rollins, Florida Southern and Florida Tech.
UT is making its seventh appearance in the NCAA tournament, and first since 2008. The Spartans have won at least one tournament game in each of its last five appearances. The 2007 national champions own a 10-4-2 record in tournament play.
Tampa enters the postseason with a 15-5 overall record, marking its seventh winning season in the last eight years. West Florida enters with a 17-2-1 record while North Alabama is 16-3-1 on the year. Rollins (10-4-2), Florida Southern (10-5-3) and Florida Tech (9-6-2) also make up the NCAA South Regional field.
