Minnesota State Competes at Reno Tournament of Champions

Mavericks Close Out Calendar Year in Reno

Reno, Nev. – The Minnesota State Mavericks took part in their last tournament of 2010 on Sunday afternoon as they traveled to Reno, Nevada to participate in the Reno Tournament of Champions.  The Mavericks failed to place any individual wrestlers, but finished the event with 20.0 team points against some very talented competition.

In his first competition since earning a first-place finish in last weekend’s St. Cloud/Husky Open, Aaron Norgren failed to place in the 184-lb weight class as he finished the day with a 1-2 record.

Finishing the day with a 2-2 record in the 157-lb weight class was Tel Todd.  Todd would earn back-to-back wins after starting the day 0-1, but would then be forced to exit the tournament in his next match with a medical forfeit against Stanford’s Mike Kent.

Other Mavericks earning two wins in the tournament included: David Demo (2-2, 125-lb), Andy Forstner (2-2, 125-lb), and Brendan Eichmann (2-2, 165-lb)

The Mavericks will return to action in the new-year as they travel to Cedar Falls, Iowa on January 8-9 to compete in the National Duals.
