UCO basketball sweeps LSC North player of week honors

RICHARDSON, Texas (Nov. 23) – Central Oklahoma swept Lone Star Conference North Division player of the week accolades for the second straight week Tuesday, with Dauntae Williams taking the offensive award and Brent Friday the defensive honor.

The twosome led the No. 18-ranked Bronchos to a 3-0 week as UCO improved to 5-0 on the year with victories over NAIA’s No. 2-ranked Southern Nazarene, Mid-America Christian and Arlington Baptist.

Williams, a 6-4 senior guard from Missouri City, Texas, averaged 17.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.3 steals a game for the week.  He scored 19 of his game-high 24 points in the second half in an 86-78 win over SNU, had a game-high 19 points, four assists and three steals in a 95-75 rout of MACU and finished the week with eight points, four rebounds and two steals in just 15 minutes of a 92-50 drubbing of ABC.

Friday, a 6-2 junior guard from Putnam City North High School in Oklahoma City, averaged 9.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.7 steals and 1.7 blocked shots in last week’s three-game sweep.  He had nine points, four rebounds, two blocks and a steal against SNU, eight points, five boards, three steals and a block against MACU and 11 points, three rebounds, four steals and two blocks in just 15 minutes against ABC.

UCO returns to action this weekend, hosting the Fairfield Inn Invitational.  The Bronchos take on Oklahoma Panhandle at 7 p.m. Friday and Missouri Western at 4 p.m. Saturday.
