EAST STROUDSBURG – Forward Caitlin Brownley, midfielder Joanna Reckley and back Kayla Cilenti will represent the East Stroudsburg University field hockey program at the 2010 NFHCA Division II North/South Senior Game, it was announced Thursday.
The game will be played on Friday, December 3 at the University of Louisville at the site of the NCAA Division II Final Four. The semifinal games are scheduled for Thursday and the championship game will be played on Saturday at Louisville’s Trager Field.
Brownley (Biglerville/Biglerville), Reckley (Temple/Muhlenberg) and Cilenti (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) will play for the South squad and are among nine seniors who have helped ESU post a 14-3 record and No. 4 national ranking with two weeks left in the regular season. The Warriors opened the year with an 11-0 record, a school record for consecutive victories, and clinched a PSAC playoff spot on Wednesday after Bloomsburg’s win vs. Kutztown.
Brownley was a first team NFHCA All-America selection as a junior after recording 19 goals and eight assists. She was sixth in the nation in goals per game and fourth in points per game while tallying 46 points in 21 games. She has seven goals and two assists this season and 37 goals in her career entering the final three games of the regular season, tied for fourth in school history.
Reckley was named to the NFHCA All-America second team a year ago and has started 67 games in the center midfield for ESU since midway through her freshman season. She has five goals and seven assists this season and notched three goals and eight assists on last year’s NCAA Division II Playoff team.
Cilenti has posted six goals and five assists this season, contributing offensively while also helping the Warriors to the fourth-best scoring defense (1.46 goals per game) in Division II. She was first team All-PSAC East as a sophomore in 2008 and has made 60 career starts.
ESU has had 24 student-athletes selected to participate in the NFHCA Division II All-Star Game since 2004, including Kierstyn DeNardo and Molly McNeil last season.
The Warriors travel to Slippery Rock for a non-conference game on Sunday for their only game this week, and finish the regular season with home games vs. No. 1 Shippensburg (Thursday) and Millersville (Saturday) next week at Whitenight Field.
