SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois-Springfield men’s basketball team will return to its home court Thursday against Robert Morris Springfield and looking to get back into the win column. The Prairie Stars and Eagles begin their battle at 7:30 p.m.
In Monday’s game, UIS was led by junior Lester Hart, who had 11 points, while sophomore Chigozie Umeadi and senior Brandon Farmer added 10 each. Also against Hillsdale, Umeadi grabbed a team-best six rebounds.
During the early season, Umeadi is leading the offensive surge with 16.3 points game, while also bringing down 7.3 rebounds. Also scoring in double figures is Hart, who averages 12.3 a game and is shooting 46 percent from the field.
Through three games this season, UIS shooting 39 percent from the field and averaging 66 points per game.
For Robert Morris it comes into Thursday’s game 4-1 after falling to Maryville Tuesday, 71-58. The Eagles were led by Anthony Patton, who scored 19 points, while Brandon Myles and Trey David scored 13 and 12 respectively.
The Prairie Stars next action is Saturday at Lincoln (Mo.) and then won’t return home until Saturday, Dec. 18, against Eureka College. The four game road trip for UIS will be its longest of the season.
