Mavericks Lose to Beavers 1-0

MSU Finishes Fourth in the Conference

Mankato, Minn.-- With third place at stake in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, Minnesota State fell short to Bemidji State Sunday 1-0 in the final game of the regular season.

MSU and BSU both failed to score in the first half with the Mavericks outshooting the Beavers 10-4.

Early in the second half Bemidji State scored at 49:45 on a rebound by Bri Scanlan after a scrum in front of the Maverick goal.

Minnesota State ended the game with 12 shots on the Beaver's goalkeeper Samantha Ross, including eight in the second half. MSU forward Nicole Dooher ended the day with three shots on goal.

Brittany Cygan was credited with four saves on the day. She now holds a record of 4-3-0.

The Mavericks received the fourth seed and will play at home for the first game of the NSIC/ U.S. Bank Soccer Tournament against fifth seeded St. Cloud State. The game will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the Pitch at Gage Towers Wednesday.

Other games in the first round include #1 Winona State against #8 Upper Iowa, #2 Minnesota Duluth against  #7 U-Mary and #3 Bemidji State against #6 Augustana. All first round game will be played Wednesday.
