SOUTH EASTON, Mass.- Senior Dee Mency (Hagerstown, Md.) of the No. 22 Merrimack men’s basketball team was recently named the Northeast-10 Player of the Week, in an announcement made by the league office Monday.
Mency averaged 33.0 points per game in the Warriors’ two wins last week. The co-captain christened the 2010 season with a 32-point performance to spur Merrimack to a 95-81 victory over Concordia (N.Y.). Mency followed by dropping 34 points the following night, tying a career-high, as the Warriors cruised past Bloomfield 110-82. He set a new career-best with 14 field goals made against the Deacons.
Mency is logging 35.5 minutes per contest this season while shooting 55.3% from the field. He owns a shooting percentage of 47.8 from three-point land and is pulling down 7.5 points per game.
The senior moved into 11th on the all-time scoring list after recording 32 points in the season opener. He currently stands at 1,551 career points and is just 14 points away from cracking the top 10.
Mency and the Warriors will face their pesky rivals Bentley in the Northeast-10 opener November 17. The Falcons bounced Merrimack from the NCAA East Regional semifinals last season and has claimed the past 13 meetings.
