Holton Named NE-10 Rookie Of The Week; Warech Lands On Honor Roll

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College men's basketball freshman Michael Holton, Jr. (Portland, Ore./Sunset/The Winchendon School) was named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie Of The Week, while sophomore Travis Warech (Pine Brook, N.J./Montville) earned Honor Roll accolades, it was announced on Monday.

The duo led the Purple Knights to a 1-1 week, including an 86-79 win on Saturday versus Concordia (N.Y.) College in the team's home opener.

Holton averaged 21 points and 5.5 assists per game last week, leading Saint Michael's in scoring in both contests. He netted 15 points in Wednesday's 71-54 setback at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and erupted for 27 points (21 in the second half) and seven assists without committing a turnover in Saturday's win.

Warech averaged 11 points, 5.5 rebounds, two blocks and two steals per contest last week. He recorded his first collegiate double-double against Concordia, tallying 20 points and 10 rebounds in the victory.

Saint Michael's returns to action on Tuesday with a 7:30 p.m. game at league-rival Franklin Pierce University.
