Golden Eagle Women’s Basketball Travels to Barry University for Non-Conference Contest

Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women’s Basketball team travels to warmer climates this week as they play Barry University in Miami, Fla. The non-conference game with the Buccaneers is scheduled for Wednesday, November 24 at 5:30 p.m.
 
Jamie Zelinsky (G, 5-11, SR, Brooklyn Park, Minn.) led the Golden Eagle Women’s Basketball team in the first two games of the season. She dropped a game-high 25 points against Mayville State and averaged 20 points/game on the week. She shot 70.8% (17-24) from the field and 80% (4-5) from the free-throw line. She grabbed nine rebounds, dished five assists and and blocked two shots. Brittani Wiese (G, 5-7, So., Albertville, Minn.) scored a career-high 24 points against Mayville State and also averaged 20 points/game on the week. Laurie Tyson (C, 6-1, So., Rosemount, Minn.) is averaging a double-double through the first two games of the season. She is averaging 10 points/game and 11.5 rebounds/game including 12 offensive boards.
 
Barry University is 2-2 on the season. The Buccaneers are led by Shanna Suttington who is averaging 13 points/game through the first four games. She also leads the team in assists and steals. Nadia Tijani leads the team in boards with 26 and in turnovers with 10.
 
The Golden Eagles open the NSIC season on Friday, December 3 when the team travels to Duluth to play the Bulldogs. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
