Golden Bears #1 Going into Post Season Play

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Golden Bears (26-4, 20-0 NSIC) are fresh off an eighth straight NSIC Title and according to the AVCA they will be the team to beat in the NCAA Tournament. In the last poll before the season ending poll comes out December 6, CU is in the top spot receiving 29 of the possible 30 first place votes. Tampa is receiving the only other first place vote in the poll. AVCA POLL

Fellow NSIC comrades Wayne State takes the third spot and NCAA Central Regional Tournament hosts Southwest Minnesota State are ranked fourth. Washburn rounds out the top five. Fellow NSIC members Minnesota Duluth and Minnesota State Mankato are ranked seventh and 16th respectively. Nebraska-Kearney and Metro State, who are the fourth and fifth seeds in the NCAA Central Region are ranked 10th and 13th in the nation.

This makes the Central Region arguably one of the, if not hardest regions in the NCAA Tournament as seven of the eight teams are ranked in the top 16 in the nation. CU has now been ranked number one the past four weeks in a row and six weeks this season. Concordia has now been ranked number one in 32 polls which is an AVCA Record in Division II.

The Golden Bears open up NCAA Tournament Play this Thursday at noon in Marshall, Minnesota against Minnesota State Mankato. Live video of all matches will be provided, check back later this week for more details as CU begins the road for their fourth straight National Title.
