SOUTH EASTON, Mass.- Three players of the Merrimack field hockey team were named to the Northeast-10 all-conference second team while a freshman earned a spot on the All-Rookie team. April Daugherty (Lincoln, R.I.), Ashley Nadeau (Canton, Mass.) and Katie Zubkus (Dover, N.H.) were all tabbed to the NE-10 all-conference second team. Freshman Jessica Otis (Pittsford, N.Y.) picked up All-Rookie honors as well.
Daugherty paced the Warriors with 18 points on the year with six goals and six assists. She is a two-time all-conference honoree after being named the Northeast-10 Co-Rookie of the Year a season ago. The sophomore played in 15 of Merrimack’s 19 games this season due to an injury and made 13 starts.
Nadeau lead the league with seven defensive saves in 2010. One of three captains on the team, Nadeau earned her first career all-conference accolade after starting all 19 games for the Warriors. The senior was part of Merrimack’s defense that was tops in the Northeast-10 with 21 defensive saves, a program record. With her seven defensive saves this year, Nadeau finished her career as the all-time leader in defensive saves in a career with 14. She has been selected to play in the NFHCA North/South Senior Game on December 3.
Zubkus makes her first appearance on the Northeast-10 all-conference team. The sophomore midfielder started all 19 contests this season and was one of Merrimack’s most consistent players. Zubkus tallied a pair of goals this season to go along with two helpers, giving her six points. She also registered a defensive save on the year.
Otis recorded one goal and four assists in her first season in North Andover. She was recognized as the Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week September 13 after dishing out a helper in the Warriors’ 2-1 win over Stonehill. Otis appeared in 19 games this season for Merrimack and made 11 starts.
The Warriors finished the season with an 8-11 overall record and a 4-6 mark in the league.
