George Fochive Nets Two, HPU Defeats UH-Hilo

Kaneohe, HI (11/6/10) – George Fochive scored a pair of goals, as HPU posted three second-half goals to defeat UH-Hilo, 3-0. It was the season finale for both teams, as HPU finishes at 12-6 overall and 10-3 in the PacWest while the Vulcans close at 6-9-2 overall and 5-7-2 in conference.

With the win, the Sea Warriors finish second in the PacWest for the third straight season. Fochive put HPU on the scoreboard just minutes into the second half. He took a shot from the left side of the penalty box that bent far post into the side netting.

In the 63rd minute, Fochive struck again to give HPU a 2-0 lead. After Nathan Scott’s shot was deflected by Vulcan keeper Dane Kaylor, Fochive followed with a goal to the near post.

Isaiah Guth capped the scoring with a penalty kick goal in the 84th minute. Chance Bukoski was taken down inside the box to earn the penalty kick.

Kay Flache recorded four saves in net for HPU, and Kaylor added five saves.

After the match, seniors Nathan Scott, Isaiah Guth, Mads Nation, and Luis Jungo were honored for their contributions to HPU soccer.
