Foder, Gogolen Named to All-PSAC Women’s Soccer Team

EAST STROUDSBURG – Senior forward Lindsay Foder and freshman back Michelle Gogolen represent East Stroudsburg University on the All-PSAC women’s soccer team for the 2010 season, it was announced Wednesday.

Foder (Saylorsburg/Pleasant Valley), a second team selection, earned a spot on the All-PSAC team for the third straight year and is the seventh player in school history with three all-conference citations. Foder was a first team All-PSAC East forward last season and was second team All-PSAC East in the midfield in 2008.

Gogolen (Oakland, N.J./Indian Hills) was named to the third team and is the fourth ESU freshman to earn All-PSAC recognition in the last four seasons under head coach Rob Berkowitz.

This season marks the first time since 2003 that the PSAC has selected an all-conference team representing the entire conference. All 15 schools that sponsor women’s soccer competed in the same division in 2010 after six years in a two-division format.

Foder had three goals and one assist this season and 21 goals and 16 assists in her four years at ESU, ranking sixth in school history in both categories. She was one of the Warriors’ most dangerous players throughout her career as a starter on three PSAC playoff teams and had a goal and assist in ESU’s 4-0 win over West Virginia Wesleyan in the NCAA Tournament in 2008 for the first postseason victory in school history.

She has been a two-time All-Region and ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District selection, making the second team this year and the first team in 2009. She graduated in three years with a 4.0 grade-point average in Speech Pathology and is currently in her first semester in graduate school. She played in 77 career games at ESU and made 73 starts.

Gogolen, one of six freshmen to earn All-PSAC status, stepped into a starting role in the fourth game and was in the starting lineup for the final 15 games. The 5-11 center back was one of three first-year starters on a defense that played the entire season without Carly Collins, who was a first team All-PSAC East and third team NSCAA All-Region back as a freshman last year.

She was one of the key contributors to a four-game shutout streak late in the season, the Warriors’ longest since 1993. The streak spanned 464 minutes and five full games in regulation and put ESU into position to play for a spot in the PSAC playoffs in the final week of the regular season. The Warriors finished the year with an 8-9-1 record and 5-9 mark in conference play.
