CSM swimming & diving dominates against Adams State and Colorado College

GOLDEN, Colo. – The Colorado School of Mines swimming & diving teams hosted Adams State and Colorado College in competition on Saturday afternoon at the CSM Natatorium. Mines defeated both ASC (227 to 32) and CC (195 to 73) winning 27 of the 32 events.

The CSM women edged out CC in the 200 medley relay by .33 seconds as Monica Mick, Cayla Wood, Jackie Mays and Michaela McNiff won the event with a time of. 1:56.15. Mick added a victory in the 100 backstroke (1:03.31) and 200 backstroke (2:19.39). Wood swept the breaststroke events winning the 100 with a time of 1:10.88 and the 200 recording a time of 2:34.86. Mays earned the top finish in the 50 freestyle (25.32) and 100 butterfly (1:02.10).

            The Oredigger women also had a pair of top finishes by Stevie Davidson in the 200 freestyle (2:02.11) and 500 freestyle (5:30.40). Rainey Perkins led the way in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:40.03. Sarah Moore swept the diving events with a score of 236.90 on the 1-meter board and 239.20 on the 3-meter board.

            The men won the 200 medley relay doing so by a nearly four seconds as Andrew Zerwick, Matt Bisping, Siarhei Piletksi and Elliot Feng finished with a time of 1:38.41. Zerwick also won the 200 freestyle (1:48.45) and 200 backstroke (1:56.61). Bisping narrowly missed a NCAA provisional qualifying time by .15 seconds winning the 100 breaststroke with a time of 59.05. Piletski was the top finisher in the 100 backstroke (54.80) and 200 breaststroke (2:11.50).

            Aaron Miller won the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:56. 24 and grabbed the top spot in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:12.87. Andrew Corman won the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:06.50. Jesse Dennis placed first in both diving events scoring 206.40 points on the 1-meter board and 228.65 points on the 3-meter board.
