PSAC Players of the Week - Nov. 14 (Week 12)

PSAC East Offensive Player of the Week
Erik Anderwkavich, C.W. Post
QB, Sr.,   Queens, N.Y./Holy Cross

Anderwkavich wrapped up his outstanding two-year career at C.W. Post by leading the Pioneers to a win in their final game of the season as he threw for 314 yards and four touchdowns and also gained 75 yards rushing on 15 carries (5.0 ypc) to account for 389 yards of total offense in the Pioneers’ 42-38 win over Slippery Rock. Going up against the PSAC’s best pass defense in Rock, he completed 18-of-25 passes without an interception and threw the game-winning touchdown pass with 1:32 to go in the fourth quarter, a 63-yard strike to Joe Botti after Rock had taken a three-point, its first of the game, just 36 seconds earlier.

PSAC East Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Alex DiNolfi, Kutztown
DB, So.,     Norristown, Pa./Norristown

DiNolfi finished with four tackles and two key fourth-quarter interceptions to help Kutztown to a 27-24 win over Gannon, enabling the Golden Bears to secure their first 10-win season in school history. He also broke up three additional passes. DiNolfi’s first interception came on Gannon’s first possession of the fourth quarter and stopped a Golden Knight drive at the Kutztown 15-yardline with Kutztown leading by 10 points. His second interception iced the game for the Golden Bears as he picked of QB Zach Boedicker with eight second remaining to preserve the three-point win.

PSAC East Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Ronnie Modik, C.W. Post
LB, Jr.,     Levittown, N.Y./Island Trees

Modik posted a career-high 20 tackles, the game-high in the PSAC this year and equalling the game-high in Division II for the season, in helping C.W. Post to a 42-38 win over Slippery Rock. Of his 20 stops, 1.5 were tackles for loss. He also had a game-clinched interception that stopped Slippery Rock’s last drive. After the Pioneers scored to go ahead with just 1:32 left, Rock was in position to drive for the game-winning touchdown before Modik picked off Ryan Sabo at the Post 45-yardline with 48 seconds left to ice the game.

PSAC West Offensive Player of the Week
Trevor Kennedy, Mercyhurst
WR, Jr.,    Akron, Ohio/Firestone

Kennedy accounted for 306 combined all-purpose and total offensive yards and scored three touchdowns to help Mercyhurst to a 56-37 win over Bloomsburg in the PSAC Championship game. Kennedy, who was named the game’s MVP, posted season highs with 11 catches for 163 yards with two touchdowns. He also returned a punt 78 yards for a touchdown, which was a key play in the first half, and finished with three punt returns for 89 yards, making for a total of 250 all-purpose yards. He also completed a pass for 56 yards on a trick play. Kennedy touched the ball a total of 16 times on rushing, passing, receiving, or returning plays, and Mercyhurst gained an average of 19.1 yards on those 16 plays.

PSAC West Defensive Player of the Week
James Jackson, Edinboro
CB, Fr.,     New Smyrna Beach, Fla./New Smyrna

Jackson finished with just two tackles but his 20-yard interception return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter provided the difference in Edinboro’s 28-25 win over East Stroudsburg. He also broke up another pass in the win. With the Fighting Scots leading by just four points with just over 10 minutes left in the game, Jackson picked off ESU QB Matt Marshall and returned it for a TD for put the Scots up by 11.
